Baksı Museum, the 2014 European Council Museum of the Year Award Winner, whose name means Shaman in Kirghiz, is a social project that aims to protect the local cultural elements and their history, to bring the modern and traditional together.

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Baksı Museum is an adventurous but conscious and spectacular project that sprouts in a partly unknown region of Anatolia. The museum, which combines traditional with contemporary, also conducts studies to provide education and to gain jobs for the children and women of the region. Baksı takes on the power of the healer and protector meanings of its name.

Day 1: ISTANBUL - ERZURUM - BAYBURT

Meeting at Erzurum Airport. Drive to Bayburt, a small village located on historical Erzurum-Trabzon silk road. Visit Ulu Cami which was built in the 16th century and Bayburt Castle. After lunch at a local restaurant, drive to Baksi Museum located in Bayraktar Village. The museum includes contemporary art & traditional handy-craft under the same roof. Dinner & overnight at the museum’s guest house.

After breakfast at Baksı Guest House, visit 2014 Council of Europe Museum Award-winning Baksı Museum. After a tour at Bayraktar Village transfer to Erzurum Airport.
