Bazaars of Istanbul tour starts in Beyazit Square, where we can admire Istanbul University’s mighty gate and the imperial Bayezid Mosque. After strolling through the Old Book Bazaar (Sahaflar Çarşısı) we penetrate the Grand Bazaar. The famous historical shopping centre holding nearly 4000 shops and the labyrinth alleys. Leaving the bazaar from the gate of the Darners (Örücüler Kapısı) and stroll to Long Market Street (Uzun Çarşı) Caddesi). Then it takes us downhill through the Tahtakale market district with many shops selling everything one can think of. Also visiting some old caravanserai buildings (hans) now full with shops. Continue visiting the Rüstempaşa Mosque with its priceless Ottoman tiles. Then enter the world famous Egyptian “Spice” Bazaar where the Genoese and Venetian traders brought the fragrant riches of the Far East to sell in Istanbul. The difficulty level of the tour is low. We’ll be stopping every once in a while to listen to our guide and to take pictures.
Are there any unavailable days for this tour?
Hagia Sophia is closed on Mondays and Topkapi Palace is closed on Tuesdays. So Mondays and Tuesdays are unavailable for this tour. (During summer Hagia Sophia is open on Mondays unless otherwise specified by the museum management.)
What to wear for the tour?
We recommend comfortable shoes and in the mosques and religious buildings modest clothes for men and women. Also it is recommended to carry a scarf for women in the religious buildings.
